COVID-19 Service Delivery Modifications

Agency moving to delivery of services by phone

With the health and safety of our clients, staff, students and volunteers in mind, the Abrigo Centre is responding to the increasing public health risk due to COVID-19 by taking steps to minimize the threat of community transmission. As such, Abrigo is moving to a modified level of service delivery. Beginning today, Abrigo counsellors will start a process to eliminate in-person client meetings and move to phone based interactions only for an indefinite period.

Abrigo’s Open Intake program, typically running weekdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., will only operate by phone. Clients can now call at any time during normal business hours to schedule a phone meeting with a counsellor.

Clients taking part in Abrigo’s Income Tax clinic are now being contacted by phone to reschedule their appointment at a later date. Abrigo programs such as our Women’s Group, Art Therapy class, Seniors group, Success by Six or Fathers’ programs are now suspended until further notice. Abrigo’s PAR program is continuing but its status is under review as we consult with the appropriate government ministry and our peer service providers.

Abrigo will review these new protocols regularly and examine how best to provide our services based on the rapidly changing environment.

Abrigo staff members reporting to work will be asked to follow social distance guidelines. Staff have been instructed not to attend any training, conferences, workshops or external meetings. Employees are also advised to avoid all non-essential travel outside of Canada at this time. Those who have or will travel outside of Canada will be asked to observe a 14 day self-isolation period upon their return.

Our agency appreciates your support and patience as we navigate through this unprecedented time. Please stay safe, vigilant and healthy.
