Abrigo Participates in 20th Annual Lusogolf event

Low Scores and a High Level of Fundraising Rule the Day

Lusogolf Fundraising Incorporation hosted its twentieth annual fundraising golf tournament in support of a number of educational initiatives and the Abrigo Centre, on Saturday, May 27 at the beautiful Caledon Country Club.

Lusogolf was established to raise funds and encourage Portuguese-speaking Canadian children to pursue post-secondary education. In 2016, this tournament netted $37,000 and from those proceeds, $4,500 was donated to the Abrigo Centre.

As usual, there was a full field of eager golfers ready to tackle a wet but challenging course. The warm, cloudy day and soft greens provided perfect conditions for low scores.

As usual, the local business community stepped up and provided a number of corporate sponsorships including LiUNA Local 183, Local 506, North American General Contractor Ltd., Manulife and Lancaster Homes.

The event finished up with a fabulous dinner and a number of golfers went home with some fantastic prizes.
