Abrigo’s AGM is Thursday, September 27th and You’re Invited
Agency’s Annual General Meeting will feature a presentation on the Music for Life program
The Abrigo Centre’s 2018 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. here at the agency for the first time since moving to its 1645 Dufferin Street location.
With the installation and opening of an elevator in late November 2017, Abrigo is now fully accessible and can hold events like an AGM on site. This is a huge boast for the agency as it reduces costs and allows more clients to attend.
Aside from the regular business of the AGM, a report from the Board Chair, review of the financials and the election and confirmation of Directors, this year the highlight will be a special presentation on Abrigo’s Music for Life program.
Music for Life was created from a grant from the Ministry of Seniors Affairs. Research indicates that musical training in seniors can help with their mental health, memory and delay issues like dementia. Program leader Nuno Miller, from Camoes Radio and TV, is also an accomplished musician. He is teaching clients in our Life and Hope seniors group how to play instruments and sing a number of Portuguese folk songs.
Mr. Miller, along with Abrigo counsellor Marilia dos Santos and musician Hernani Raposo will discuss the role music plays in our lives and the impact the Music for Life program is having on our clients.
This event is free and open to the public. We encourage you to attend. If you are interest, please RSVP to 416-534-3434 or by email at info@abrigo.ca by Monday, September 24th.
We look forward to seeing you there.
