Abrigo Celebrates National Volunteer Week
Annual Appreciation Event Welcomes 80 Volunteers
On Thursday, April 19th the Abrigo Centre had the honour and privilege to recognize the incredible achievements of our many dedicated volunteers. The evening was our opportunity to offer a sincere “thank you” to over 100 individuals who regularly make a positive impact on the lives of our clients in all the programs we offer.
“You, our volunteers, give Abrigo the greatest of all possible gifts: your time and energy. And you give it when our lives are often filled with significant time demands, said Valeria Sales, Volunteer Coordinator for Abrigo. “Volunteers are the life-force of any social service agency. Abrigo cannot do all the things we do on a daily basis without your assistance.”
The evening featured great food, music and the unveiling of a new plaque on the first floor by the Reception Desk that will recognize the efforts of those individuals who annually provide 300 hours of service or more to Abrigo.
“Thank you for being there to talk to a senior or assist a newcomer. Thank you making lunch for our Life and Hope clients, leading an activity or helping someone with their passport or pension,” said Ed Graca, Abrigo’s Executive Director. “Volunteerism is a wonderful gift and we thank you each of you for playing an important part in the life and work of our agency.”
Thank you to everyone for attending and thank you to our generous sponsors Tavora Foods, Joe’s NoFrills, Dufferin Mall, and Caledonia Bakery.
